Strawberry quartz is a trade name rather than a formal mineralogical species. It refers to clear or milky quartz containing fine reddish inclusions — most often iron-bearing minerals such as hematite, lepidocrocite or goethite — which give the stone its speckled pink-to-red appearance.

- Hardness: around 7 on the Mohs scale — durable enough for daily wear
- Look: translucent pink with visible flecks, inclusions or shimmer

Because genuine included material is relatively uncommon, quality varies a great deal. Colour can range from a barely-blushing pale pink to a deep raspberry.

Rose quartz is the classic stone of unconditional love, often chosen for romance and self-love. Strawberry quartz is described in a warmer, more everyday register — gratitude, cheerfulness, gentle emotional repair.
Which should you choose?

A Note on "Cherry Quartz"
This one matters. Much of the bright, glassy, candy-red material sold online as "cherry quartz" is manufactured glass, not natural stone. It's perfectly pretty — but it isn't quartz, and it shouldn't be priced as such.
Signs to look for in natural material:
- Irregular, uneven inclusions rather than a perfectly uniform swirl
- Slight variation between beads on the same strand
- No visible bubbles inside the bead
- A seller who states clearly what the material is
